How to Select Recipients for a Campaign

Before an email campaign could be scheduled or sent, recipients will have to be selected. Remember in order for a contact to be sent an email they must belong to a list or segment and have a subscribed or soft bounce email marketing status. The recipients could be selected immediately after the campaign is saved or from the Email Campaign Summary. 

Optionally, a subset of contacts can be excluded from selected mailing lists or segments using one or more existing mailing lists or segments already created.

Note: The Select Recipients button will be enabled, only if Edit Email Design and Edit Details sections have been completed.

The recipients can be selected from Email Campaigns or from the Email Campaign Summary. 

  1. Select Email Campaigns from the left navigation.
  2. Select the checkbox beside the name of a campaign.
  3. From the action bar at the top, click Recipients or click on the person icon under the Action column. 
  4. Or click on the name of any campaign to access Email Campaign Summary and there will be 3 sections to select recipients only after the Edit Email Design and Edit Details sections have been completed.
    1. ​From the action bar at the top, click Recipients.
    2. Blue bar across the top "Before sending this email campaign, you must select recipients." click Select Recipients button.
    3. Recipients section click Select Recipients.
      • ​​​This section will display, None Selected or if recipients already selected, the names of segments or lists that are on the recipient lists or exclusion lists.

In the Select Recipients for Email Campaign dialog box:

  1. Select the recipients to receive the campaign. Choose from:
    • All contacts selected by default (this includes any contact added automatically or manually that has email marketing status of Subscribed or Soft Bounce).
    • Mailing Lists and/or segments: select this option to send emails to a targeted audience.
      • Recipient Lists tab 
        • Select checkbox beside at least one segment or list from this tab for contacts to receive the email.
      • Exclusion Lists tab
        • (Optional) Select checkbox beside at least one segment or list from this tab for contacts to be excluded. 
  2. Click Select to save.
  3. The Recipients section will display mailing lists and/or segments that were selected.
Note: A contact will only receive one email even if they belong on more than one segment or list.

  • Recipient List tab with Employees, All Members and Trainers selected.
  • Exclusion List Tab with Active Member status and Female selected.
Contacts on the Active Status and Female segment will be removed before the campaign is sent.
