How to Edit an Image Gallery
Once you have uploaded your images to the Image Gallery, there are few additional features that can be configured in order to make the gallery complete. These options inlcude adding a caption to the images, adding a description to the gallery, adjusting the order of the images as well as viewing the gallery on site.
Adding a Caption to an Image
For every image that you have uploaded to a gallery, a caption can be added to provide a brief description of the event. To add a caption to an image you will need to fllow these steps:
1. Click on the image in the album from the content tree.
2. Click on the Form tab.
3. Enter text in the Description box or remove text if you no longer want any caption for the image.
4. Click on the Save button.
Add text to the Image Gallery page
There is the option of adding text to describe the gallery.
1. Click on the name of the image gallery
2. Click in the editable (dotted line) box and enter in your desired content.
3. Click on the Save button and then Publish button to make your additions live on your site.
Note: the images for the image gallery are displayed as thumbnails at the bottom of the page and not in the editable box.
View the Image Gallery on the Live Site
1. Click on Live Site on the top right corner of the screen
2. Navigate to the image gallery page. Hover your mouse over an image to see the caption (if there is one), and click on the image to view it in full size
Note: If you are clicking on the images and nothing is happening, you are most likely you are still in Preview Mode for the page even though you are on the Live Site.
This is usually identified on the top left corner of your browser.
- Click on the Close link and you will be able to click on the image to see it in full size.
Once the image is in full size the following options will become available:
- The description will show up underneath the image
- There will be arrows to go to the next or previous photos (can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard)
- Option to zoom in
- View the image full screen
- Share the image
- Close the image when you are done viewing
Edit and Preview mode of Image Gallery
When trying to view the image gallery in Edit or Preview mode it will only allow you to view the images and hover over to see captions. It will not give you the full Image Gallery experience of clicking on the images to view in full size. This can only be done from the Live Site as mentioned above.
Modify the order of Images in the Image Gallery
- Click on the image in Content Tree
- Click on the Up or Down arrow at the top to move the image to the new location in the image gallery
Delete an Image from an Image Gallery
You may decide after reviewiing the gallery that one or more images may not be appropriate or possibly have been uploaded mistakingly. In the event of this scenario you will need to delete the images from the gallery. In order to do so you will need to follow these steps:
- Locate the Image Gallery within the Content Tree.
- Click on the node next to the Image Gallery and select the image you wish to delete
- Click on the Recylce Bin icon at the top of the Content Tree
- From the confirmation dialog, click on Yes to confirm the deletion.
Note: Deleting Images from the Content Tree will place them in Recycle Bin as long the 'Destroy page and its history' option has not been selected during the delete process. To restore a deleted item from the Content Tree click here for instructions.
